What is the MOT Test?
It is the responsibility of every vehicle owner to keep that vehicle in a roadworthy condition. The purpose of the MOT test is to ensure that vehicles meet a set safety standard.
For most cars this means that a test is required when the car is three years old and every year from then on. (The requirement is different for passenger carrying vehicles, such as taxis)
Because a vehicle is regularly serviced does not necessarily mean that it will pass an MOT test.
MOT Tests can only be carried out by test stations authorised by the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA)
